A preoccupation, off and on, for more than 20 years with possibilities emanating from the story of Punch & Judy: etchings; paintings; an artist book; puppets; as well as drawings, small and large. Some of these works take the confined space of the performance tent as the setting for quotidian activity by these two quarrelsome characters. Others show them bursting rumbustiously out of their tiny theatre environment irreverently eliding with subjects and forms from elsewhere (the tree of Jesse, the myth of Sisyphus, the Madonna del Popolo, Alice in Wonderland, et al) so the tale becomes re-told.
